OUR HISTORY

The National Education Museum in the Indonesian Education University complex is a relatively new building.  Previously, the location that is now used as a museum is a three-story building known as the Pentagon, namely the Faculty of Languages ​​at the Indonesian Education University.  In mid-2008, the building caught fire due to an electrical short circuit.  As a result, this building was neglected because as it was no longer used. In 2009, this building was demolished to be used as a parking area.

Four years later, the then Chancellor of UPI, Prof. Dr.  Sunaryo Kartadinata M.Pd., and supported by the Governor of West Java, H. Ahmad Heryawan, Lc, initiated the establishment of the National Education Museum. The laying of the first stone as a symbol of the start of the construction of the National Education Museum took place on May 20, 2013.

Coinciding with National Education Day, May 2, 2015, the National Education Museum was inaugurated by the Chancellor of UPI, Prof.  Dr.  Sunaryo Kartadinata M.Pd, and the Governor of West Java, H. Ahmad Heryawan, Lc.  On November 25, 2015, in conjunction with the commemoration of National Teacher’s Day, the National Education Museum was officially opened to the public.
